With artificial intelligence (AI) gaining popularity among investors, the Tron blockchain has committed over $100 million to teams using it in their blockchain applications.

Through the use of tools like ChatGPT, a chatbot developed by OpenAI, both in the back end and front end of development, the initiative intends to assist developers researching the use of AI—which aims to simulate human intelligence in machines—in applications established on the blockchain.

The Tron Artificial Intelligence Development Fund accepts grant applications from these teams.

Tron has identified several key areas for the application of AI, including currency settlement, market and investment analysis, payments and e-commerce, data management, and content creation.

Tron creator H.E. Justin Sun wrote on twitter this week that “AI integration in smart contract development will permit for even more intelligent and effective development, deployment, and executing of smart contracts.”

According to data from CryptoSlate, the average price increase for AI tokens over the past week was over 60%. Tokens for platforms like Alethea’s artificial liquid intelligence (ALI), fetch.ai (FET), and SingularityNET (AGIX), which have more than tripled, have been among the largest gainers.

However, some market observers are still wary of the buzz surrounding AI tokens.

As many speculators will aim to take advantage of short-term price pumps, “there is a chance that this entire new trend may end up in an empty hype.” Such cycles are becoming somewhat monotonous and depressing to see repeatedly.
